1952 Ford Mainline Fordomatic

We picked up this 1952 Ford Mainline, 6 cylinder, Fordomatic car out of a garage were it had been stored for at least 8 years. The wiring loom is frayed and broken and there was a considerable oil stain under the transmission. We brought it back to the shop, put it on the lift, and found no signs of rust or impact damage. What we did see is all of the rubber body gaskets were original and weathered and left in place before it was painted. There were extra parts with the car including a bare 302 Ford V-8 block that appeared to have been bored and honed. There was also a crankshaft that had been turned to 20 under on the mains and rod journals. Included was a used intake manifold, carburetor, headers, valve covers and miscellaneous covers in a box that accompanied it. There were no pistons, rods or valve train parts. As you can see in the images, there was a lot of stainless steel trim and body molding spears. Everything that is being sold with the car is shown in the images.

The interior was almost perfect. It looks like the upholstery was professionally done including the headliner. The driver's door side window is badly cracked but still in place. The doors were a bit hard to open and close. The trunk had a stock spare and looked to be in good order. All of the stock chrome items had been painted over without attending to the serious surface pitting but there was no corrosion showing.

Because I could not help myself, we bought a new battery to find out if the engine ran. Jumping the starter solenoid and spraying starter fluid into the carb, the engine started instantly and though it had been sitting for years, there was absolute no sounds or signs of loose bearings or other mechanical rumbling. It started and ran perfectly until the starter fluid we sprayed in ran out.
