1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe - 3 Pedals - Over 435 HP
Classic Chevy hardtop, sold new in Las Vegas, Nevada and it has never left town in almost 70 years. Owned for 33 years by the owner/builder, this fabulous Bel Air Sport Coupe remains stock in outward appearance, but it is the engineering and precision handiwork that went into the drive train of this vehicle that puts it in a class by itself. For that person seeking to own an old school, show quality, period correct, hot rod Chevy, this incredible automobile should satisfy the most particular buyer. It is simply breathtaking. The glistening chrome trim and brilliant Flame Red finish attest to the level of detail exhibited by this updated Tri-5. The flawless body virtually glows, and all the bright work, glass, and rubber are still like new. The body was painted then remounted on a modified custom chassis which is specifically constructed to handle a substantial increase in horsepower with frame stiffeners, a Nova front clip providing power rack and pinion steering, and big drilled and slotted power disc brake rotors at all four corners to provide sure stopping power at the tap of a toe. This Chevy handles like a dream with an Ididit tilt steering column topped with a laminated wood steering wheel. Staggered radial tires on 5 spoke Alloy rims make the stance just right - putting an exclamation point on the WOW factor. By now it is obvious this Bel Air is not just another pretty girl at the prom. A peek under the hood, reveals the Heartbeat of America manifested in some shiny glory. A turn of the ignition key brings to life a beautiful, but certifiably awesome, power plant that would be the envy of Chevy V8 wizard Zora Arkus Duntov. The handcrafted engine shines like a diamond, but it is its internal fortitude that takes the prize. Immediately visible is the MSD ignition and MSD fuel injection system riding atop the Edelbrock Performer manifold. The 350 CID small block was bored and stroked to 363 cubic inches, then assembled with a rugged crank, high lift roller cam, forged pistons, and aluminum heads. Factory dyno tested at over 435 horsepower, it is astounding. The ceramic coated long tube Hooker headers feed stainless steel exhaust pipes with Turbo mufflers which emit an audible rumble, leaving no doubt that this car means business. An outsized Champion aluminum radiator takes care of the cooling chores and a Tremec T56 six speed manual transmission is engaged with a hydraulic Centerforce clutch to send positive power to the hardened 10 bolt PosiTraction rear end with a built up punkin and axles. Every part in this car is first class and BC – Before China. Receipts for every component come with the car. No shortcuts were taken in building this ride to be powerful, but also safe and dependable. It is. Inside, the two tone interior has been custom fabricated, using Oldsmobile power bucket seats, and a matching back seat and door panels. With digital dashboard instruments, Vintage air conditioning, an Auto Sound stereo system, flawless tinted glass, and tight rubber seals, this Chevy a joy to cruise in. This iconic Tri-5 is a unique custom. There is virtually nothing like it. The Oakland, California built Bel Air was sold new in Las Vegas by Fairway Chevrolet and was previously owned by Las Vegas drivers. The seller bought it in 1997, made it what it is today, and has driven it under 950 miles since it was completely restored and updated to better than new condition. A car like this comes along only once in decades. If you don’t know how to drive a three pedal car, look for something else. If you love to drop the clutch and mash the gas, maybe it can be yours. But don’t be bashful. It isn’t cheap, but we will consider a fair offer from someone who knows the difference between a well built car and overpriced, so called "professionally built" junk.
