Pacific Raceways Swap Meet
Kent, WA - March 6, 2021
While following COVID guidelines, the Pacific Raceways team was able to put the swap meet together, while keeping vendors, buyers and tire kickers safe. In addition, they had an increase in vendors from 77 vendors their first year to 150+ this year. The swap meet doubled in size, while maintaining safety by requiring masks to be worn and social distancing to be followed.
As vendors, we appreciate the efforts made by Pacific Raceways to make the swap meet possible. Having been a year since many in attendance were able to go to such an event, even the little bit of rain and a few wind gusts didn't seem to stop anyone from enjoying the day. Large 20' x 50' vendor spots made it possible to follow social distancing.
In keeping with the guidelines, admission ticket sales did need to be suspended for a short time mid-day to allow swap meet goers to exit before allowing more in through the gate. Unfortunately, there was no way to know how long it would take to reach the maximum attendance allowed until it was reached, which was disappointing to those waiting in line to get in. While some chose to get out of line, most understood the need to follow the guidelines and waited patiently to make their way in to the event.
With COVID clearly becoming an object in our rearview mirror, you can look for this event to grow from year to year and I expect it to become one of Washington's largest events in the future. Be sure to include it on your list of events to attend in 2022!
