1957 Pontiac Star Chief Convertible

Offered for sale is a very well preserved, dependable, show quality, Pontiac that is one of very few of the 12,789 Star Chief convertibles produced in 1957.
It is in excellent condition, having no mechanical, electrical or aesthetic issues and the iconic droptop has been owned by the seller for well over two decades.
The Star Chief (Model 28) is the top of the line version of the 1957 Pontiac except for a very few special Bonneville editions with fuel injection that were produced that year.
This vehicle displays its age splendidly, with no rust, no missing parts, and no dings, dents, or body damage.
The sheet metal is as straight as an arrow from Chief Pontiac’s quiver, and the black power top and interior show minimal wear and no rips, tears or stains.
The original 347 CID Pontiac V8 and Hydramatic transmission were replaced with a 350 CID Chevrolet engine and GM 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission.
This Pontiac convertible coupe is finished in glistening Ermine White, complemented by a Raven Black spear.
The original formula single stage paint has been professionally applied; it is flawless and very smooth with no orange peel, ripples, dimples or fisheyes.
The finish has an extremely high gloss and is free of any visible blemishes.
Likewise, the front and rear bumpers, badges, massive original grille, window molding, and rear valance trim are in excellent condition and interior moldings, mirrors and other brightwork are in show condition as well.
The odometer shows 42,347 miles, but the condition of this ragtop would indicate far less than that.
This Star Chief is powered by a professionally built, small block 350 CID Chevrolet ZZ4 engine with 4bbl carburetion.
This performance engine is commonly used in upgrading the power of classic automobiles and is factory rated at 355 horsepower.
The engine has been in service approximately 28000 miles.
It is nicely dressed and detailed with no drips, grime or signs of use.
Ceramic coated exhaust headers feed aluminized 2-1/2 inch dual exhaust pipes with MagnaFlow mufflers.
Because the car lives in Las Vegas, it has a large capacity radiator that provides adequate cooling for the engine on blazing hot summer days.
This classic Pontiac rides on steel belted radial tires mounted on period correct Appliance chrome wire spoke wheels in great condition with no pitting, peeling, or deterioration of the spokes or wheel rims.
The charcoal vinyl seats, door panels, kick panels and dashboard are in excellent condition.
This vehicle has comfortable factory installed bench seats, reupholstered several years ago in new vinyl material similar to original stock issue.
The black convertible top retracts at the touch of a switch, and the car comes with a boot to cover the top when it is down.
A Vintage air and heat system provides climate conditioning, and an aftermarket AM/FM/CD/MP3 sound system with an enhanced speaker system adds to the driving enjoyment.
This is a private sale by owner, thus no financing is available and no trades will be considered.
Payment is accepted in cash or bank to bank wire transfer only.
For the person who does not want to drive just another Chevy, this Pontiac gets far more attention than the ubiquitous Bel Air convertibles out there.
This Star Chief is a star in every show where it appears.
